Job Description
The Nuclear Pharmacy Manager oversees and is accountable for the operations and financial results of assigned pharmacy(s), ensuring appropriate customer service is provided and optimal use of resources is attained. Plans, coordinates and directs all operational activities as well as human resources and finances associated with the pharmacy for which direct responsibility is held.
- Participates in the sales process
- Oversees Radiation Safety program
- Ensures attainment of budget objectives through effective financial management and optimal utilization of resources (labor, delivery and material efficiencies). Sets business direction for pharmacy(s) and articulates priorities.
- Acts as liaison to ensure and take an active role in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with customers, suppliers and corporate contacts through regular interactions.
- Ensures internal quality and regulatory standards are maintained at or above an acceptable level.
- Trains, coaches and provides direction to supervisory staff on basic supervisory skills.
- Ensures and takes an active role in maintaining positive working relationships with all pharmacy employees through regular interactions, teambuilding, and active listening.
- Trains, mentors, coaches, develops, and conducts performance appraisals for direct reports. Applies their knowledge and skills to effectively enhance the smooth functioning and productivity of the pharmacy.
- Oversees and is accountable for safety for all employees and security of the facility. Ensures operational procedures are in compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations. Also has direct oversight of radiation safety program and provides authority to Radiation Safety Officer(s) to enforce compliance and administer the program.
- Prepares regular reports and analysis for management, customer correspondence, succession plans, and employee documentation.
- Ensures high quality products and services are delivered to customers; resolves complaints.
- Conducts staff meetings. Participates in organization-wide conferences and training activities.
- Analyzes pharmacy budgets to identify budget needs and or reductions, taking the appropriate action.
- Participates in sales presentations with local sales representatives or sales management. Participates in sales to local IDN’s (Integrated Delivery Networks).
- Supervises all pharmacy personnel, including Pharmacy Supervisors, Staff Pharmacists, Relief Staff Pharmacists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, Customer Service Assistants, Interns, and Administrative Assistants.
- Works with and around others in a Cardinal Health pharmacy, which is clean, orderly properly lighted and ventilated. Exposure to very low radiation levels from radiopharmaceuticals suitable for human use. The pharmacy is operated under well-controlled and closely monitored conditions, which are highly regulated by State and Federal agencies and internal quality and regulatory professionals. Employees receive specific training in keeping with regulatory guidelines and are monitored for exposure.
Schedule
Position will have shift work, holidays, weekends and on-call duties. Candidate must be flexible to work various shifts, schedules and hours based on business need.
Anticipated Salary Range: $119,800 - $179,655

The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy, PharmD or Health Sciences
- Licensed Pharmacist and eligible for licensure preferred, but not required
- 3-5 years related pharmacy experience
- Minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory experience in a health care or pharmaceutical environment preferred
- Ability to develop, implement and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation
- Authorized user preferred
- Active state licensure, and nuclear certification preferred
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve customer/employee problems or conflicts to meet the needs of external and internal customers
- Ability to be innovative in troubleshooting clinical/bio-distribution problems
- Must demonstrate effective writing and verbal proficiency in internal and external communications and documentation procedures; presentation skills
- Ability to promote teamwork within pharmacy location and region by treating staff members with respect
- Must fulfill a commitment to the professional ethics adopted by the pharmacy profession
- Ability to plan and implement plans effectively; make effective and timely decisions; and effectively manage a budget and administrative functions
- Manual dexterity; clear speech, general vision, hearing
- Ability to lift up to 85 lbs
- Ability to travel to regional meetings and to customer sites as required
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Flexibility to work various shifts and rotate schedules
- Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office programs)
- Ability to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation as needed
- Ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation as needed
- Ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation as needed
